Like so many people I’m devastated and heartbroken for all the thousands of people impacted by the California fires.
Personally, I went to high school and college there and I have so many friends and colleagues impacted by this ongoing horrific fire.
As a former news reporter that covered fires like this I know firsthand how hard it is when you need help to find the resources when you’re still in shock and overwhelmed. Unfortunately, I also know about all the scammers out there that try and take advantage of people who have already been victimized by these fires.
I also know if you want to do something to help the victims of these fires it can be challenging finding the best places to go that will help these fire victims the most.
For that reason I put together this quick list of resources that I’ve personally vetted in case you’re someone who needs help during or after these California fires, are someone who wants to know how to donate for the California fires.
I also know even if you’re not directly impacted by the California fires it can be very triggering and impact your mental health seeing all the images on the news and hearing about and seeing all the suffering and personal pain. I’ve included a couple of resources if you’re struggling with your mental health and encourage anyone who is to reach out in some way to someone who can listen and help.
Sending thoughtst and prayers to everyone impacted by this relentless fire and gratitude to all the firefighters, first responders, law enforecment, the National Guard, the volunteers and everyone from California, Canada, Mexico, and other states around the country who are all battling this blaze to save lives, homes, businesss, schools, communities, and everything that makes California the resiliant state it is.
Thank you to anyone and everyone who can help.
